A Journey Through the Spectacular Scenery of Nishi-Ezo(Top Page)

Introducing unique winter landscapes and notable viewpoints, such as “The Sea of Japan Route”, ”The Waterfall Route”, and “The Route of Flowers and Forest”.

A Superb View of Nishi-Ezo

Nishi-Ezo, the northwest of Hokkaido which lies along the Sea of Japan, has been long recognized as a place of scenic beauty. Dynamically sheer cliffs, National Routes 231 and 232 (a coastal route which is also known as the Ororon Line), the remote islands Teuri and Yagishiri, and the sun sinking in the Sea of Japan are some of the overwhelmingly beautiful seascapes here. The magnificent viewpoints inland are also attractive: wile flowers and blooming trees, rice paddies and fields changing colors towards harvest, rivers running through the mountains, numerous windmills standing on the hills, the scenery of Mounts Shokanbetsu and Pisshiri, and many more.

It has been 300 years since the development of Nishi-Ezo began. There have most certainly been changes in the scenery during that span of time. It would be a wonderful journey to imagine bygone days while exploring the landscapes of today! You just may discover marvelous views, which have remained unchanged since olden times. Isn’t that also a great way to enjoy the scenery of Nishi-Ezo!
